Koh Phi Phi's status as one of Southeast Asia's most photographed destinations creates a complex insurance environment. The bay hosts a constant stream of speedboats, longtail taxis, and day-trip ferries alongside overnight charter yachts and cruising vessels. Third-party liability at adequate limits — minimum USD 1,000,000 — is essential.

The National Park authority's enforcement of anchor restrictions has increased significantly since 2020. Vessels found anchoring in prohibited zones face fines and potential vessel detention. Insurance policies do not cover regulatory fines, but the liability cover becomes critical if the anchor causes seabed damage that triggers a restoration order.

Overnight anchoring in Ton Sai Bay during the peak season (December–February) requires careful anchor watch given the density of vessels and the risk of anchor drag in the bay's mixed sand and rubble bottom.
